Employment Caseworker

We are looking for volunteers who can commit at least 4 hours a week on an ongoing basis.
Full DBS check and travel expenses covered.
Volunteers receive information, advice and training
Weekly meetings are held on Saturday for 1 hour

What You'll Do: 

The role as a Employment Caseworker

-   Working in a team with other volunteers who provide support with housing, benefits, immigration, welfare, health, wellbeing, training, personal and professional development and other areas of challenge that clients might be facing.

-   Supporting people who have been struggling with their employment and are relying on food donations as a result.

-  Helping people to build their confidence and skill set for successful interviews.

-  Offering support in communities that don't usually have access to employment support due to language barriers or simply not knowing how the UK system works.

 

What You'll Learn: 

Skills you will gain:

- Practice on building interview skills as the role requires a 30 minute interview with the Business Support Coordinator and Hub Advice Coordinator.

- Problem solving, working with a team of other volunteers and leads, learning and development opportunities.

- Provide advice and support to guide, encourage and support participants to overcome barriers to employment and achieve realistic job goals.

- Re-build participant confidence, self esteem and resilience.

- Work on both a 1-1 and group basis.

- Manage a caseload of participants; managing their journey to employment, offering advice and direction to enable participants to access support they need.

- Work as part of a team to ensure smooth delivery of the service and excellent client care. Work flexibly with an understanding that this is a new and developing service.

- Take on feedback from a variety of stakeholders and contribute to innovative changes and adaptations to service delivery.

- Ensure records are kept up-to-date and accessible to other team members and that casework is maintained effectively.

- Contribute to our online library of employment related resources, compiled and updated by the team.

Additional but not necessary-

-  We work with a large number of people from Latin American communities. So, volunteers who speak Spanish will be of great help too.
