Community listening campaign about climate

What You'll Do:

Until now, most sustainability initiatives have been within King’s, focusing on our campuses and engaging our students and staff. While the students and staff within the King’s CAN want to see King’s work with local communities, there is also the recognition that any projects and initiatives have to target real problems faced by our local communities, and have to be created in close collaboration with them to be meaningful.

To kickstart this work, the Sustainability team and King’s CAN members are launching a listening campaign involving local community members and community organisations, to hear first-hand about the climate and sustainability challenges they face. Based on the listening campaign, we hope to support them in taking action, identify how King’s students and staff can work with them, and develop initiatives and projects that build long-term positive relationships on climate and sustainability.

We are recruiting 121 volunteers to carry out the listening. These volunteers will receive (1-3 hours) listening campaign training by Citizens UK (1-3 hours). They will then conduct the 121s in our local boroughs and keep track of the listening through form submissions after each 121. The minimum commitment is the duration of one 121 (i.e. 40 mins) which can be held online or in person. Deadline: EOD 9th of October.
