LGBT+ ambassador in schools

LGBT+ pupils are twice as likely to get bullied. Volunteer in schools to share your story of growing up LGBT+ and the importance of allyship to change that. You’ll also have opportunities to meet new LGBT+ friends, write articles and develop skills!

What You'll Do:

As a Just Like Us ambassador your role will be incredibly varied. There are a number of exciting projects, tasks and opportunities you can get involved in, for example:

• Delivering talks to schools and colleges (in pairs)

• Creating online media such as blog posts, articles or videos

• Meeting other LGBT+ people and taking part in skills workshops

• Taking part in our mentoring scheme with LGBT+ professionals

Why You'll Love It:

You'll become a part of a vibrant community of other LGBT+ people aged 18-25, and help create positive change to young LGBT+ people in schools across England and Wales. Ambassadors have spoken about the

Our ambassadors form a network of young and diverse LGBT+ individuals who talk about their experiences to positively impact the lives of LGBT+ young people. Through telling our own stories we can all play a part in ensuring the younger generation of young LGBT+ people grow up with the support and representation they need.

What You'll Learn:

Our ambassadors participate in exclusive employability and skills training from prestigious employers, and can join our year-long LGBT+ career mentoring scheme. More than that, Just Like Us ambassadors are part of a nationwide community of 300+ other LGBT+ young activists who support and learn from each other.

Through this work, you will also gain employability skills such as public speaking, project management, digital media creation and team working.

What We're Looking For:

You can become an ambassador if you:

• live in the UK

• identify as LGBT+

• will be between the age of 18-25 by October 1st 2023

• have good written and spoken English

• would like to volunteer with kids

• have a passion for LGBT+ equality and visibility

We have ambassadors from various faith and ethnic backgrounds, as well as ambassadors with diverse LGBT+ identities, disabilities and levels of income.
