Community Fridge Volunteer

What You'll Do:

Fridge host volunteer (Thurs/Fri shifts - other days to follow):

On Thursdays and Fridays (1-4pm) we need volunteers to welcome people to the space, explain the fridge process and socialise with our regulars. Tasks include completing fridge paperwork, inputting data online, checking safety of resident food donations, assisting with weighing and packing items, cleaning the area and getting rid of remaining food waste.  Volunteers can make a weekly commitment or sign up for available slots via Eventbrite.

Surplus Waste Club volunteer (Wed): Each Wednesday afternoon a small group of residents prep any leftover or excess fridge items for our chef, Samar, to cook and put back into the fridge for re-distribution on Thursdays. We need a volunteer to help brainstorm recipes, buy extra ingredients, give residents direction and re-label cooked food.

Community brunch volunteer (Thurs am):  Thursdays from 10.30-12 we run a community brunch using donated bread from our deliveries to have communal toast, jam and fruit. We need a volunteer to run this and help source donations.

Why You'll Love It:

This is a great chance to get involved in a local community, meet interesting people and spend time in our awesome community cafe!  You'll be making a difference to people facing food insecurity as well as helping prevent food waste.

What You'll Learn:

We'll arrange for you to take an online Food and Hygiene L1 Certificate.

What We're Looking For:

Friendly, enthusiastic people who want to make a difference in the community and tackle food waste.
