Power to Connect work to close the digital poverty divide across Wandsworth.
As part of this, our Essential Digital Skills course supports refugees, asylum seekers and migrants by helping them get started online. Attendees receive a P2C refurbished laptop and over the course of 4 weeks are supported to learn skills including the use of Google tools, email management, office software and online safety.
Volunteers play a vital part in the successful running of this course in both helping to ensure everyone receives a good level of support and in helping us to ensure that attendees speaking a range of languages including: Arabic, Urdu, Spanish and French understand the course content and can fully participate.
This course makes a genuine difference to the lives of people who attend and this volunteer role will put you on the frontline of supporting people to gain the digital skills they need to thrive in the UK. It provides a unique opportunity to help you connect with people from diverse backgrounds and make a positive impact on their lives.
Working alongside the Power to Connect trainer, you will see how with support and patience people can really grow their skills quickly yet in a meaningful way. It will give you a unique insight into the lives of other and a sense of perspective on the every day issues that affect them.
This role is suitable for someone who is patient and empathetic, with a good understanding of basic digital skills and a willingness to share them with others, who can communicate effectively even when language may sometimes be a potential barrier.

Every week we provide a lunch for isolated older people in Victoria. We provide jacket potato with various fillings and a hot meal in winter. the lunch is run by volunteers. We require volunteers on a Wednesday from 11.00 - 2.30.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit at least 4 hours a week on an ongoing basis. Full DBS check and travel expenses covered. Volunteers receive information, advice and training Weekly meetings are held on Saturday for 1 hour

As a Cooking Volunteer you’ll join the kitchen team to help produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll contribute to recipe ideas, help with prepping the food, cooking the meal, and of course clearing up afterwards!
