Event Coordinator

Adoption UK is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to plan and run a variety of engaging fundraising events in your area to raise vital funds for our cause.

What You'll Do:

As an Event Coordinator Volunteer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a range of exciting fundraising events. You will oversee the full event lifecycle, from the planning stage, right through to running the actual day itself.

  • Planning and managing events: Decide on themes, venues, ticket prices, schedules, and more.
  • Working with our Fundraising Manager: Maximise the fundraising potential of your event.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team: To spread the word and build excitement for your event.
  • Negotiating with suppliers: Secure the best deals to keep costs low.
  • Managing budgets: Ensure events stay profitable.
  • Coordinating logistics: Manage suppliers, troubleshoot on the day, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Why You'll Love It:
  • Gain hands-on experience in event planning and charity work.
  • Develop your skills in organisation, negotiation, and teamwork.
  • Make a positive impact on your community and support adoption-related initiatives.
  • Work flexibly around your own schedule.
  • Get that warm fuzzy feeling! The funds you raise will make an incredible impact on the work we do at Adoption UK. Just £130 covers the cost of training for parents to help understand developmental trauma and build relationships. Just £400 sets up a volunteer led community group providing regular meet ups for adopted people and adoptive families.
What We're Looking For:

You do NOT need prior experience with Adoption UK or the adoption process—just the drive to create memorable events that make an impact. Ideal candidates will:

  • Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Be confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate negotiation skills to secure the best deals from suppliers and venues.
  • Thrive under pressure with exceptional time-management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Be motivated and enthusiastic about creating successful fundraising events.

This role is very hands-on but equally can be very flexible around your schedule and the amount of time you are able to give. Ideally, we would like you to organise one small fundraising event (eg pub quiz, comedy night, coffee morning, yoga session, etc) every 3 months – if this is not possible however, please let us know and we can accommodate based on your availability.
