Healthwatch Greenwich is offering a great learning opportunity for an undergraduate or postgraduate student to work with a small and dedicated team, supporting our community research and insight programme.
You will be working closely with the Social Research Manager to:
- Support research activities, such as writing information sheets and FAQs, speaking with potential participants and organising fieldwork activities.
- Support with collecting qualitative and/or quantitative data.
- Conduct desktop research in preparation for projects.
- General administrative tasks, including recording findings and taking written notes.
- Upload data onto electronic databases.
- Undergo training as required.
- Protect any confidential information at all times.
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Comply with all health and safety and ethics requirements for research activities.
This is an opportunity to support a variety of interesting research projects, to engage with organisations and bodies involved in the provision of publicly funded healthcare and to make a difference to your local community. Much of our work is focused on the health inequalities experienced by different communities or on underresearched groups of people; for example, we work on projects around maternal outcomes and migrant communities, the experiences of informal carers, and young people's sexual health and wellbeing.

- Research methodologies, ethics.
- How to maintain confidentiality.
- Data protection management.
- Collecting survey data.
- Organising data on Excel, Survey Monkey and Smart Survey.
- Conducting thematic and systematic analysis.
- Experience conducting or supporting research projects (interviewing, carrying out surveys, analysing data, writing reports, etc.). This could be through work you’ve completed for your university studies or work/volunteering experiences.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage own time.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of team.
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Reliable and committed to the role.
