Female Youth Mentors - Academic Focus

Female Youth Mentors - Academic Focus

If you are passionate about helping and inspiring others to reach their potential and want to pass on your knowledge, this is the opportunity for you.

What You'll Do:

We are recruiting academic mentors to join our dynamic Youth Mentoring programme to provide one-to-one academic support to girls aged 10 -18 who may fall behind in their schoolwork.

Volunteer mentors will act as role models, support academic progress, and provide inspiration and encouragement to young people at risk of becoming vulnerable to further disadvantage as the attainment gaps widen. Whilst the focus is supporting academic progress, personal development, goal setting and confidence building will also be necessary.

Time Commitment: 1 weekly session for an hour over the academic year between Monday – Thursday.

Hours: 4 pm to 6 pm

Duration: For one academic year remote or in person, term time only.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for volunteers with

  • good GSCE or degree-level education to support various subjects, mainly Maths, English and Science.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Patience and enthusiasm toward learning

Due to the nature of the work this role is open to female applicants only. (Equality Act 2010: Schedule 9: Occupational Requirements)
