King's College London Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy is a resource for all students and staff at King’s, of all faiths and none. We work to support wellbeing and resilience for students and staff, including offering pastoral listening and prayer, and offer opportunities for relaxation and refreshment throughout the academic year. The Chaplaincy at King's has four core commitments: Welcome, Care, Spirituality and Community. All of the activities and services we offer as a Chaplaincy team emerge from these four commitments.
ABOUT US:

There are Chaplains and Chaplaincy spaces available on each campus of King’s (Guy’s, St Thomas’, Denmark Hill, Waterloo and the Strand). KCL students and staff are welcome to spend time on their own in the Chaplaincy, drop in for a chat with others, or schedule a one-to-one meeting with one of the Chaplains. The Chaplains are here to serve the King’s community and part of that is to provide pastoral support and accompaniment to students and staff. In addition to one-to-one meetings, the Chaplaincy organises a number of events throughout the year to help build community amongst the students and staff of King's. These events range from weekly free lunches, to daytrips to book clubs.

Faith and an inclusive understanding of spirituality are at the heart of all that we offer. We take our commitment to God seriously and are always ready to pray and offer spiritual support. This is true regardless of the beliefs or background of those we meet. We offer regular acts of corporate Christian worship, and provide dedicated spaces for Muslim and Dharmic prayer. We create spaces for the community to explore faith and seek meaning together, and encourage the pursuit of justice. We are careful with how we share our faith, and never assume that others do – or should – agree with us. We are a multi-faith team, keen to recognise the joys of working across differences and commonalities. In all that we do, all are welcome: whoever you are, wherever you’re from, whatever you believe, whomever you love - you are welcome.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Chaplains walk alongside people who are going through dark periods, struggle and grief. We also work closely with all other support and service colleagues across King's to ensure that everyone's wellbeing - physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual - is looked after and nurtured during what can be an uncertain time. Individuals do not have to be in spiritual crisis to meet with a Chaplain: we are practiced listeners and have a wealth of experience in supporting people through relationship, work and study difficulties, spiritual and vocational issues. And if we are ever unable to help, we often know who can.

We hold regular services to ensure that, day by day, the sacred is celebrated in our midst. The Chapels at the Strand and Guy’s are open for individual prayer and the lighting of candles, and the Chaplaincies on each campus are available for student and staff to just walk in and pour a (free!) cup of tea or coffee and take some time out on a comfortable chair. The Chaplaincy can be a home from home, for those that need it.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

A commitment to being a supportive and inclusive presence with an open mind and an open heart towards those we work with in the Chaplaincy spaces and at Chaplaincy events.
