Support for Mental Health Charity - Video Production/Materials

The peer-to-peer mental health charity, My Black Dog, is looking for support to raise the profile of our growing mental health service. We are looking for supporting with helping video a number of volunteer testimonies.

What You'll Do:

My Black Dog aims to be here for anyone struggling with their mental health, through the medium of peer support. We know first-hand how isolating difficulties with mental health can feel and how isolated we can find ourselves during these times. Long waits for primary health care, GP appointments, counselling and medication support can severely effect access to mental health support in a timely fashion. We firmly believe no-one should feel alone or that they don’t have anyone to talk to.

My Black Dog runs a free, confidential, webchat based peer support service. This is predominantly staffed by our fantastic cohort of over 100 volunteers, all giving up their time for free to support others with mental health conversations. Everyone at My Black Dog has their own experiences with mental health and we use this as an opportunity to emphasise with our guests and show them that there is someone who truly does ‘get what it’s like’.

We are a small, but growing mental health charity. However, we need your support in order to raise the profile of our service, so no one feels alone in their mental health. We need support to video a number of promotional materials for the charity, from volunteer testimonies to messages of hope and support. We are hoping this will show the 'human' side of the mental health service and encourage others to reach out for support.

Why You'll Love It:

You'll be on the front-line of the mental health response in the UK and working with some of our fantastic volunteers in order to capture their experiences and stories. Our volunteers have powerful messages to share and their own journeys to follow and you'll be working alongside them to capture the core of mental health and the impact it can have.

What You'll Learn:

Alongside helping with videography and media skills, you'll learn first hand about mental health support, peer support and the realities of the mental health space in the UK.

What We're Looking For:

Someone able to be flexible and understand the unique nature of our service. We also need someone who understands we are dealing with raw, unfiltered mental health stories here - this role isn't always suitable for everyone. We need someone who isn't afraid to capture raw emotions and stories in order to spread the word about the support we offer.
