Our Second Home
Young people with refugee experience build community, become leaders and flourish in the place they call home.
ABOUT US:

We are a youth movement that empowers migrants and refugees to flourish in the place that they call home.

There are thousands of young refugees and migrants arriving in this country every year. These young people are often isolated and lonely, living in foster care or supported accommodation, without the necessary infrastructure to develop positive social relationships or learn vital skills. OSH exists to plug this gap.

Through transformative activities, our members are enabled to create community and build leaders. We believe in the unbounded potential of these
individuals and are driven to help them thrive. Our residential experiences are at the start of this journey, allowing us to create a space where we can teach leadership skills and spark ideas.

We believe that by providing the infrastructure and tools that they lack, we can tap into the potential of these individuals and help build the next generation of refugee leaders. To do this, we host residential programmes and year-round activities, creating a safe, communal space that enables us to teach leadership skills and spark ideas.

With the right support, our ambition is to ensure that young refugees and migrants have the agency to take control of their own lives.

THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
Half of our team of leaders are people who have lived experience of seeking asylum. It's important to us that our work is led by the group of people we are trying to serve
Last year we ran 9 residential trips for people seeking asylum, including 2 volunteer training weekends to equip the team with more skills to do this work
Engaging girls and women is important to us. Every year we have one trip that is exclusively for women and girls, and we are looking to grow this programme
Last year we ran 2 training courses for young adults seeking asylum to equip them with the skills to become volunteer leaders with us. This year we're running three
Our community is intercultural, intergenerational and interfaith- with a diverse range of skills and experiences. We cook delicious food from many countries, share each other's languages and listen to great music!
