The Guild Church of St Katharine Cree is a church for workers in the heart of the City of London. A church has stood on this site since 1280, serving the residents and workers of the neighbourhood around today's Leadenhall Street. Today we welcome all here who are looking to deepen their connection with their community and with Jesus Christ. Rooted in a rhythm of Christian prayer and worship, our ministry is focused among those who work in the City in precarious, low paid or 'hidden' occupations.
As a 'Guild Church', St Katharine Cree does not have a parish and instead we are asked by the Bishop of London to concentrate our ministry on workers in the City and their families and communities. We offer a place to pray and a community to belong to, and a growing range of activities and opportunities to join in with. So, alongside prayer and worship, we also offer English classes, employment advice opportunities, health and wellbeing activities, community meals, and we are building connections between migrant and diaspora community groups, churches, and service providers across London.
- Service and compassion
- Respect for diverse expressions of spirituality and tradition
- Inclusivity and welcome
- Passion for worker justice
We have a big vision for re-establishing this Guild Church's ministry, and renewing this beautiful church as a centre for music, worship, community, and action. We are different in that our ministry is focused among those who work in the City in precarious, low paid or 'hidden' occupations.
