To attend meetings taking place every other Friday for volunteers to receive information, advice, training and peer support. We are looking for volunteers who can commit 4 hrs per week on an ongoing basis. Full DBS check and travel expenses covered
The role as a Warehouse Assistant Volunteer
- Ensure that all warehousing procedures and processes are followed as per the Spring Community Hub warehousing manual.
- Receive food donations from members of the public and thank them.
- Ensure that incoming stock is checked, weighed, and recorded.
- Sort food by date and type, removing any items that are damaged or out-of-date and weighing these out separately.
- Ensure that food is checked weekly and rotated as required.
- Notify the Manager when food stock is low so that appeals can be made for these items.
- Keep the warehouse area clean and tidy at all times, checking for evidence of pests and notifying the Manager if there are any concerns.
- Prepare stock orders for the foodbank centre as appropriate.
- Carry out tasks under the guidance of the session leader and report any health and safety or safeguarding concerns to the Manager/session leader.
- Participate in an annual stock taking.
- Report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the Manager.
- Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude in all Spring related activities.
Skills you will gain:
- Recognise processes and procedures relative to food hygiene and sanitation.
- Work with a team to tackle hazards and identify them before they cause harm.
- Identify stock keeping and management

- Experience of customer service or dealing with a diverse range of people.
