Social Club Volunteer

Our social clubs bring people together across generational divides to have fun; learn new things and create new friendships.

What You'll Do:

Our social clubs bring people together across generational divides to have fun; learn new things and create new friendships. It's very flexible, so you can fit your new South London Cares social life around your schedule. You can come along to however few or many social clubs you can attend each month - there's no maximum or minimum requirement.

Our clubs are about busting stereotypes that surround older and younger people so we try everything: from cooking workshops, Hula Hooping and Congolese dance workshops to silent discos and Barge Trips! Our clubs take place in different venues such as pubs, cafes, galleries, community centres and community gardens across Lambeth and Southwark.

Why You'll Love It:

Our social clubs are a warm, welcoming community where you'll make new older and younger friends outside of your social bubble. You'll gain a social life like no other - where you'll meet new older pals whilst learning how to flamenco or getting covered in clay at a pottery workshop. Our clubs are a great way to connect with your local community, pick up new interests and gain new friends and perspectives. But most importantly- we hope you have a lot of fun in the process.

What You'll Learn:

You will learn about intergenerational friendships and your greater community. You'll experience new company and conversation that will help you feel connected to your community, broaden your horizons and gain confidence within yourself and around others.

What We're Looking For:

At our Social Clubs, your main role is to be a friendly face, a listening ear, to offer company, and to get stuck into the activity of the club. This varies greatly depending on the club - sometimes this will look like getting cooking on a virtual club or taking part in an art workshop in Regents Park.
