Seated Dance Support Volunteer

What You'll Do:

We're looking for volunteers for a few hours on Thursday mornings to help with a seated dance class. The class is for adults who have long-term health conditions which may affect the individual's physical and mental wellbeing. Pembroke House needs volunteers based in our Walworth Living Room space as a sociable and supportive presence for these participants during their class and/or during lunchtime in the café afterwards.

Your specific role will depend on your availability, skill-set and interest but this role in its entirety includes:

1. Taking part in dance class and assisting participants who may benefit from additional 1-2-1 support.

2. Facilitating lunchtime; a warm and friendly presence in the café space, promoting the project's aims of inclusivity by ensuring no one gets left out.

3. Assisting participants at lunchtime who may need extra support with their meals.

4. Working with staff to support a participant in a wheelchair to travel to and from the Walworth Living Room from Pembroke House each week. (5 minute walk)

Hours are between 10:45am and 2pm, but will vary depending on the interest and availability of volunteers. Appointed Volunteers will require an enhanced DBS check which can be organised at no cost to the individual by Pembroke House.

Why You'll Love It:

This a great opportunity to get involved in our local community and make a real difference to people facing moblity issues as well as having some fun!
