Volunteer Mentor

Would you like to help a young person in your local community prosper? You’ve come to the right place! ReachOut are looking for volunteers to join us for 2 hours a week as a mentor to young people in need of a positive role model.

What You'll Do: 

As a ReachOut mentor you will make a real difference to the lives of young people in your local community, you will watch them grow in social and academic confidence, develop their character and raise their aspirations.  

 

You will be involved in one of our weekly after-school ReachOut Projects, working with either primary or secondary school students. Our sessions are fun and engaging, involving both group activities and one-to-one discussions. As a mentor you will be paired with a young person, who you will work with each week over the course of the school year, helping them to develop their character, exceed their goals and grow in confidence.  

 

All of our projects start during the Autumn, each running for different lengths of time so that you can pick the type of project that best suits you! We run sessions from Monday through to Thursday across a range of locations within London. You can pick a project which runs in the afternoons or the evenings, so you will be sure to find something that fits in with your schedule. We do ask that you commit to the full duration of the project as this allows for the best mentee-mentor relationships to form and creates the strongest impact for our young people.

We think that everyone can get something out of volunteering with us, if you are keen to work with young people in your career it's a great way to gain hands-on classroom experience in a supportive environment. But you can also gain and develop skills which you can transfer into your studies or future work environments!   

What We're Looking For: 

You don't need any experience to volunteer for ReachOut! We're just looking for enthusiastic, committed people who want to get involved and be positive role models to young people!     

 

Before you begin volunteering with us we will ask you to attend an online training session, complete a DBS (that we organise) and submit references. Throughout your time volunteering you will also receive ongoing support. Each session is led by an experienced Project Leader who is always on hand to offer support and answer your queries.
