RESEARCHER FOR LHF HERITAGE PROJECT: WOMEN FOR WOMEN: 19TH CENTURY WOMEN IN BLOOMSBURY AND MOVING INTO EARLY 20TH CENTURY DEVELOPMENTS
We continue our exciting Lottery Heritage Funded project: Women for Women: 19th century women in Bloomsbury exploring the challenges women faced accessing education, training and employment and now look at developments in the early 20th century.
- research women who trained in medicine and other branches of health care in London in 19th century and went on to open hospitals and medical facilities for women staffed women.
- organise research to present it in a clear format and ensuring sources are noted.
- create entries for the website that are appropriate for a general audience.
We can guarantee that you will find the work stimulating as you glimpse the achievements of women, particuarly in the field of healthcare, in late 19th century and early 20th century England. You will learn a wealth of social history in an accessible way and be able to use this to inform your knowledge of contemporary debates.This is work you can take pride in as your results will be visible. Every week we provide a lunch for isolated older people in Victoria. We provide jacket potato with various fillings and a hot meal in winter. the lunch is run by volunteers. We require volunteers on a Wednesday from 11.00 - 2.30.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit at least 4 hours a week on an ongoing basis. Full DBS check and travel expenses covered. Volunteers receive information, advice and training Weekly meetings are held on Saturday for 1 hour
As a Cooking Volunteer you’ll join the kitchen team to help produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll contribute to recipe ideas, help with prepping the food, cooking the meal, and of course clearing up afterwards!
