Female Into School Mentor for the Youth Service

provide one-to-one support and guidance to newly arrived migrant girls ages 11-19 who may require extra assistance with their academics. By offering academic support in a wide range of subjects.

What You'll Do: 
  • Provide one-to-one academic support to girls aged 11-19, focusing on subjects that they need extra assistance in, including Maths, English, and Science.
  • Bridge communication gaps by fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for girls who are learning English.
  • Act as a role model, encouraging and inspiring mentees to excel academically and pursue their educational goals with enthusiasm and determination.
  • Foster personal development, following our Character Development Framework, by providing guidance on goal setting, time management, study skills, and confidence building techniques.
  • Maintain regular communication with your mentee and programme coordinators to track progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
What We're Looking For: 
  • Good academic background with GSCE or degree-level education, particularly in Maths, English, and Science, to provide competent academic support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build trust with mentees, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for learning.
  • Patience and empathy to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by each mentee and provide effective support and guidance.
  • Ability to motivate and empower mentees, instilling a sense of confidence.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Arabic is highly desired, as many of the girls use these as their first languages.
