Kitchen Support Volunteer - Resource Centre

You will volunteer as part of a team of volunteers, supervised by one of our chefs. Duties include serving hot food, serving tea/coffee, making up cutlery wraps, filling condiment caddies, washing up and clearing down at the end of service.

What You'll Do: 

Main duties:

 

  • Serving hot and cold food from service counter to clients
  • Preparing tea and coffee
  • Pot washing service chaffing trays by hand (they don’t fit in the dishwasher)
  • Loading dishwasher trays with plates, cutlery etc and operating the dishwasher
  • Cleaning and sanitizing tables in the dining room and work surfaces in the kitchen
  • Putting clean dishes/pots/cutlery away
  • Contributing to an effective working environment in the kitchen
  • Engaging with clients and contributing to a welcoming environment

What We're Looking For: 
  • Aged 18 or over – essential
  • Lift and carry large service dishes
  • Lift dishwasher trays in and out of the machine
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work independently as required, assisting staff and other volunteers as required
  • Commitment and understanding of the importance of providing a reliable service and following our absence reporting procedure
  • Ability to work within required Health and Safety and Food Hygiene procedures
  • Wear personal protective equipment
  • Must be willing to undertake a Basic Food Hygiene course
  • Adaptable, ability to do what needs need doing and switch between duties
  • A positive and cheery approach to customer service and be able to demonstrate an inclusive and non-judgemental attitude towards clients, volunteers and staff
