Virtual Volunteer - Literacy Support

The Literacy Pirates is an educational, pirate themed charity that takes children aged between 9 and 13 on voyages as readers and writers. Our after-school programmes, led by teachers, offer one to one small group attention from trained volunteers.

What You'll Do:

We're looking for Virtual Volunteers (based in the UK and aged 16 and over) to join us at our online after-school sessions, where you will be supporting young people aged 9 to 13 with their reading and writing and championing their work as they become published poets, authors and podcast creators!

We're looking for people that are positive about social change and that love literacy. No experience working with young people is necessary as full training is given.

Sessions run during term time Monday to Friday, 3.45pm-6.15pm.

Crossbones is a stone's throw away from London Bridge and was boarded up and closed for many years. Behind the hoardings is a post-medieval, un-consecrated pauper’s burial ground with the remains of an estimated 15,000 people buried there.
