Help maintain our community buildings and gardens.
We have lots of buildings that require maintenance! You might help out with painting rooms, or putting paintings up, or washing curtains, or changing beds. There is also garden maintenance needed like mowing the lawn and weeding in the house's gardens (separate to the garden workshop).
This is a really flexible opportunity that will work for different kinds of people. You can volunteer anything from weekly to as a one-off helping out around the community.
If you aren't a people person, you can do maintenance tasks where you work by yourself.
If you want to make friends, we can give you tasks where you get to know our community members and join in with fun community events. It's really up to you!
- This is a great opportunity to develop your technical skills like drilling or decorating or gardening.
- It would give you experience should you choose to pursue a career in this area.
- If you choose to get to know our members with learning disabilities, you'll also learn to communicate more accessibly.
- There will be chances to have training in sign language, first aid, health and safety, and autism awareness.
It would be preferrable if you had some background in maintenance, handywork, or other practical tasks. If not, don't worry - there are some maintenance jobs that you can learn about on the job.
