We are a charity that harnesses the transformative power of play and exercise to help vulnerable children recover from complex trauma.
You will be working with vulnerable children in West London (aged 5-11) with a history of various difficulties, including mental health, special education needs, history of abuse, etc. More than 90% of our children are referred to by social services and live in very difficult environments.
Your role will include
- Supporting children at Solidarity Sports projects during school holidays.
This may include running through playgrounds with our children, supporting them as they try bouldering for the first time, ice-skating, and many more fun activities.
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with our children, and making them feel special and valued at all times during our projects.
All volunteers will be DBS checked before volunteering.
- All safeguarding training is provided by the Solidarity Sports team before the project, other training opportunities may also come up along the way to build CV and experience.
- We have projects during term holidays (e.g. half-term, Christmas), if you continue volunteering with us you will have opportunities to undertake further training such as in child safeguarding.
We need enthusiastic volunteers who are ready to dedicate their energy and affection!
If you are studying or researching a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) related subject and want to volunteer and share your knowledge and experience with young people, you could become a STEM Ambassador.
Team Up is looking for dynamic volunteer tutors to help transform the future prospects of underperforming pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Do you want to make a real difference to a young person's life? If you are a current university student of any subject (or have graduated within the last 2 years), this opportunity could be for you!
