Box Office Intern

Learn more about box office management at an art, culture and science festival and gain experience using ticketing systems and portable card machines, as well as about event box office.

What You'll Do:

The main duties of our Box Office interns are to be the point of call for audiences at the beginning of events to check in with pre-paid tickets or to purchase any available tickets on-the-door.

You will be responsible for recording any on-the-door sales you do at events and reporting them back to the Festival Manager, Catríona Strojwas. These reports are used for post-festival reconciliations and audience data, so we are looking for interns who have a strong sense of organisation and management.

Why You'll Love It:

You'll gain first hand experience in box office management for a multi-event festival but also by doing this you will see different venues, meet various partners, staff and audiences, plus see a side of festival/event management which is a core aspect of any creative or ticketed industry.

What You'll Learn:

You'll learn how to use the ticketing system Eventbrite to check in tickets, confirm capacities and record attendees. You will also learn how to use an izettle portable card machine, used at events for any card ticket purchases on-the-day. Through this role you will also gain an understanding about the different ways to record ticket sales and how to manage a cash float.

Time management and organisational skills will also be developed as there are many ticketed-events throughout the festival programme and many take place within different venues across Bloomsbury. You will quickly learn to manage your time and organisation to ensure that any box office reports are clear and separated between the different events.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for people who are available for multiple days of the festival period (Friday 13 - Sunday 22 October), though availability does not have to be a daily occurance. Any applicants must be reliable, able to take responsibility for handling of cash and card systems, and are comfortable with clear communication about schedules.

It is not essential for applicants to have experience in a festival or event setting but experience in handling payment transactions is required (though this doesn't have to be extensive).
