Fundraising Volunteer

St Joseph’s Hospice relies on the generosity and support of our local community. We need to raise around £7 million a year to keep the Hospice running and source income through a number of channels.

What You'll Do:

By becoming a fundraising volunteer you would be directly assisting us with this mammoth task and ensuring that we can be there for everyone who needs us the most.

Whether you would like to volunteer on a regular weekly or monthly basis or if your time available to volunteer is on more of an ad hoc basis, we would love to welcome you to the Fundraising Team!

There are a number of roles available to suit your preferred level of time and commitment, based both in the Hospice and out and about. See below sections for more information on becoming a fundraising volunteer.

Events cheerers/ stewards

Supporters of St Joseph’s Hospice take on challenge events throughout the year, including running, walking and abseiling and we want to cheer them to show how amazing they are! The events cheerer role requires commitment on a one off basis and whether you are able to come to 1 event in the year or 8, we will kit you out with your very own St Joseph’s Hospice T-shirt and clapper to help you make as much noise as possible!

Bucket collections

We’re always looking for volunteers to help us with bucket collections throughout the year, whether its at a train station, supermarket, football stadium or another venue, it’s a nice easy role that makes a huge difference to St Joseph’s Hospice.

Office volunteers

As an office volunteer, your role might include tasks from the below list as well as much more! Based in our friendly office at St Joseph’s Hospice, roles tend to last from 2 hours to a couple of days depending on the project and so there really is something for everyone! As a fundraising office volunteer you might help with:

  • Sending out mailings
  • Refreshing our collection tins
  • Laminating
  • Stock checking
  • Making telephone calls
  • Contacting local clubs and businesses
  • Contacting local schools
  • Making up packs for our annual Rudolph Run event

Database support

If you’re a whiz with data, we have availability for a volunteer to help with data entry, income processing, data cleansing and gift aid checking. As with all our roles, full training will be provided.

Volunteer ambassador

We’re looking for reliable volunteers to be trained up to go out to schools, local businesses, clubs and religious organisations to give talks and do cheque presentations on behalf of our Community Team. This is a specialist role within our fundraising team and ensures that we are able to physically meet as many of our supporters as possible from our local community, building relationships and encouraging continued support.

Why You'll Love It:

Great Opportunity to make new friends and meet people

Flexible opportunities that can fit around work or study

roles that mean you can dip in and out of volunteering if you wish to.

What You'll Learn:

You can learn about how fundraising works, also about our history and how you can become an ambassador for St Joseph's.

What We're Looking For:

Friendly happy people who want to help fundraise!
