Social Media Intern

Through this voluntary internship you will assist the Bloomsbury Festival's Digital Marketing Manager and Social Media Assistant in monitoring, creating and posting social media content across the Festival's various channels.

What You'll Do:

You will aid the Digital Marketing Manager and Social Media Assistant in attending events and exhibitions during the Festival on their behalf and capturing content which can be shared across the Festival's various social media channels.

Putting together social media materials under the direction and instruction from the Digital Marketing Manager. These materials will be for posting during the lead up to the Festival (which begins on Friday 13 October) as well as during the Festival period (13-22 October).

You will be working under the direction of our professional team who will allocate you events to cover (depending on your availability and interests) and you will need to follow our house style.

Why You'll Love It:

The great thing about Bloomsbury Festival is that we have a range of events and hubs each year that cover various areas of interest and subjects, every year our programme is inspired by a theme, In 2023 this is Grow which can and has been interpreted by our Event Partners to botany, personal and historical growth, architecture, the growth of techology, etc.

You'll be at the heart of the festival, gaining free access on behalf of the festival to the programmed events, exhibitions, talks and workshops. You will also meet various festival partners, sponsors and creators with a chance to network and get to know some of the upcoming and exisitng creators in Bloomsbury, London and beyond.

This is a great opportunity if you want to go into arts marketing and PR.

Further information about what the Festival does can be found on our website: https://bloomsburyfestival.org.uk/

What You'll Learn:

You will learn about the social media requirements for festivals, how this may differ to other industries and how creative ways need to be thought of to increase interactions on festival platforms.

You will gain first hand experience about what marketing an annual festival requires and how it's put into practice during the festival period. Working alongside the festival and marketing team to deliver social media coverage of the festival. Including experience with marketing strategies and plans.

Through this role there is also a chance to see how social media is linked to other areas of festival management and should be coordinated with other areas of the festival.

What We're Looking For:

You don’t need to have any specific experience although you do need to be active on social media and quick to post to Instagram, Threads, Tik-Tok, Twitter and Facebook. The role is designed for anyone 18+ who has an interest in supporting the festival and/or gaining additional skills and work experience, though an interest in the industry is not a strict requirement.

It helps to have an enjoyment of going to festival events of all types (theatre, arts, music, walks and talks), and happy to go to events you would not normally choose, and update our social media channels.

We are looking for someone who has good availability in the lead up to the festival and during the time of the festival period (13-22 October).
