Volunteer for Waste Reduction in King's Residences Project

King's Climate Action Network (CAN) is partnering with Get Rid Of it And Donate (GROAD) to organize a project to reduce waste produced within King’s Residences by asking students to donate belongings to charity organise. Volunteer to help us do this!

What You'll Do:

The KCL Climate Action Network (CAN) is partnering with Get Rid Of it And Donate (GROAD) to organize a project to reduce waste produced within King’s Residences by asking students to donate belongings that are still in good condition to charity organizations instead of throwing them away as they move out of their rooms. This project will be carried out at the end of term 3 when residents are moving out of the dorms (approximately June 5th-26th).

We are looking to recruit at least one student from each residence to act as a Lead Volunteer to help the CAN implement this project. Students also have the option (and are encouraged!) to sign up as a General Volunteer if they would like to help, but are not interested in being the lead contact for the residence.

As a Lead Volunteer, we would ask the student to serve as our main contact on the ground during the project to help us to facilitate waste collection and pickup. They will be asked to help spread the word about the project to increase awareness within their residence. They will also be asked to keep an eye on the donation collection spaces to alert CAN if there are any issues (e.g. rapid build-up, lack of donations, collection bins being tampered with, etc.).

There will be two time frames for this project where volunteers will be needed, please indicate which you would be available for:
   1. Move out: June
   2. Move out: September

Specific dates will be confirmed in the future.
