They are confident using their initiative, intuition and are proud of being an IWM ambassador. As well as helping visitors explore our exhibits and activities Discover volunteers may also welcome school groups and help to point out key facilities, address access needs and highlight our ‘Hidden Gem’.

Why You'll Love It:

As a Discover volunteer you will be there at the beginning of the visitor journey and will have the opportunity to make our visitors feel special and valued by informing, enthusing and engaging in all that IWM has to offer. You will be able to make recommendations based on their personal interests and provide orientation information to make sure that they get the very most out of their visit. We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, engaging and passionate about the IWM and its charitable message. Who are confident using their initiative and intuition and are proud of being an IWM ambassador. This is a great opportunity to engage with visitors, improve your confidence and learn more about our fascinating history. There is something for everyone!

What You'll Learn:

There is lots to learn! Not just about the role and IWM  but also about various parts of history, how significant London tourist attractions work and what it feels like to volunteer with us in general. Before starting we will give you all teh necessary training for the role and we provide ongoing training and development opportunities for our volunteers after that as well.
