Kitchen Volunteer (Only at our Poplar Depot)

Join us to give a new life to surplus food.

What You'll Do: 

This role is based in Felix's Kitchen at our East London site. There are two main activities - Food Prep and Meal Packing.

  • Food Prep involves chopping, peeling and the overall preparation of ingredients using surplus food. You may also assists our wonderful chefs in the cooking of our meals.
  • Meal Packing is where you will help assemble our meals into boxes, which then go out to vulnerable people across London. We usually pack and distribute around 4000 meals a day.

You will also need to complete a Food Safety course beforehand and will gain a certificate for it.

We have an online induction (Info session) where you will learn about what we do at the Felix Project and our story etc.

You will also have Food Safety & Hygiene training, aswell as future training opportunities as part of our Learning Management System.

As a Cooking Volunteer you’ll join the kitchen team to help produce a three-course vegetarian meal using surplus food. You’ll contribute to recipe ideas, help with prepping the food, cooking the meal, and of course clearing up afterwards!
