Make a difference to a child in London and become a mentor with The Kids Network
Join a structured mentoring programme for children aged 8 -11 years old which supports their social and emotional development before they transition into secondary school. As a mentor, you’ll hold weekly sessions, lasting 1 – 3 hours over the course of a year, supporting a child during a crucial stage in their social and emotional development. You’ll help to build confidence and develop the tools for resilience and positive mental health. All mentors are invited to join a peer-to-peer network of mentors, building role confidence and sharing knowledge and experiences
Begin an intergenerational friendship with North London Cares
The Love Your Neighbour programme connects younger people with their older neighbours for a 1-2-1 intergenerational friendship through regular visits or calls. The programme provides conversation and companionship to help combat social isolation. You'll build a mutually beneficial friendship with an older person in your local community, learn from and about each other's life experiences, and hopefully become good friends along the way. The 'Love Your Neighbour' friendship programme offers flexibility, you can visit in person (either at an older neighbours' home or outside together) or you can have a phone match friendship or a mix of both.
Become a Helpline Volunteer with Southwark Wellbeing Hub
You will be answering queries from members of the community and professionals in Southwark and will gain experience in a frontline mental health service, supported by a friendly and energetic team. By signposting information alongside emotional support, you will empower people with the tools they need to find support in the community.
Support people in time of crisis as a Welcome Area Volunteer with Providence Row
Providence Row supports people in times of crisis, providing a safe space, food, warmth and access to advice & support.You'll have the chance to make a real difference and improve the experince our service users recieve. There is a lot of interactions with clients and you'll be able to see how they work behind the scenes in the fight to end homelessness
